Here's a logo I made for the IMPM logo in delta, back when I was guildmaster there:

Here's another one I made one night when I was feeling more whimsical:

Nice avatar and logo.

Okay my turn.

Heres one I made for my Gamma guild after founding, leading and leaving the GTF there.
I now own a Mercenary Guild, still looking for members.

What do you think? Took me a long time to make, the rust effect on the cog was pretty hard, then making it blood stained to give the rust a better effect of war torn from battles.

The planet in the background is one of my old pieces I made in the past which I thought I'd add in and use to add a more... spacey, effect.

Another avatar I made, randomly making something and a named matched it perfectly.
But then I realised there is infact a Guild on Beta with the name, so I sent it to them and they used it, now unexisting, as far as I know.

Tell me what you think to this one, more a battle torn steel avatar.

Didn't take that long, mixed loads of my effects together that I have done before.

I like the Gear Marines one.  It's good work.  If I had any suggestions I'd say use a very light (1 or 2 pixel) stroke so that the top of the letter "G" in Gear is more easily visible - one thing I've learned is that many people's monitors are not set to the right color tints/shades and that dark stuff like that can easily go from cool to very hard to read on some monitors.  I'd also use a heavier font-weight on the white text under the main name, for a similar reason.  Still, the over-all effect is very cool.  Very nice.

I like the 3D effect on the sphere in the Destruction one, but over-all it doesn't grab me in the same way that the Gears one did.  Particularly, the two upper-pointing branches to either side of the sphere seem to have an ink-wash look to them more than a 3D look... maybe that was the intent but it turns me off.

Do you use Photoshop for RGB or Illustrator for CYMK designs, mostly?  Or are you using something non-commercial like Gimp?

I should make it clear that I don't consider myself to be a great artist... more a dabbler with a discriminating eye.  Even if I do sound critical, you have real talent and these are not amateur works.

I work with GIMP.

Photoshop is boring and has too many features and you don't really get to make thing, because it has it all for you... and if you mix them they don't work out the way you may wish.
With GIMP I customise everything in my own style, which is changing more and more... I've recently tried as few GOON style avatars. Which have turned out... amazing. :P

And yeah the Destruction one as I said, was me just playing around making something completely random, when I look at it nowadays I see so much more I could of added, to improve it, make it grab the eye and make it more... realistic with my current effects I've taught myself.
As for the gear one I must agree, I've tried to change the colour shades but it doesn't look right, best darker... and if people don't have their tints up to scratch, then thats not my fault lol.

I work for display and my own experimentation, not to look good on everyones screen XD

Also, this is my latest space graphic. It is still in the making, over 300 layers so far.
It... just needs something, but I'm not sure what yet  :-\

What you think? Taken me 10 hours so far.

Going to border it once finished.

Hm.. my first thought is, we're moving away from AE and probably should start a new "Space Art" or "Gimp Techniques" thread in the general artwork section...  'cause this could go on awhile and quickly veer way from the thread title (sorry, I admin to many forums, can't help but think like this).

As for the image, I like it but one thing strikes me - it looks like a sun is trying to poke out from behind it on the top right of the planet... but also on the lower left of the planet.  Is is supposed to be set in a binary star system?  It definately looks nice so far.

lol, Fair enough..  but yeah I guess we should make another topic one.
I'll remain with Guild avatars now.

And it's meant to be the death of this damned Earth XD
Because of how the planet is tilted I thought it wouldn't just blow up on one side, it would travel through, and begin to seek out before engulfing the entire planet.
Just the main explosion is in the upper section. It does look like a sun, I tried to add a few more planets but it didn't work, I have deleted around 7 adds to that image but none work, it needs something, but I don't know what.

Anyway, back to Avatars... >_>
Oh and I mod a fair few forums, stopped though because they all died out.

Anyway... yeah Avatars...

Hoping to use this avatar somewhere, not sure where... nor if I should hand it over to someone.

I like the wings on that one.
